Wirral Waters will invite businesses and families from outside of the area, but first and foremost it will benefit those already living in the area by improving the environment, assisting with community projects and providing training opportunities.
The ‘Setting The Scene For Growth’ scheme has seen over 1,500 street trees being planted in the area, backed by an art exhibit with Len Grant called Trees • Work, focusing on the impact of trees on business, people and their wellbeing. Elements of this work were recently displayed in the local Williamson Art Gallery.
You might also see elements of the “…and the River flows on” project around the area. This community arts project worked with over 300 young, vulnerable or dependent people through a series of workshops to create a collection of insightful art panels each addressing a different aspect of the River Mersey and the Birkenhead Docks.
The Arts Minister has recently visited the project to endorse and applaud the work.
